Tomás Quintero

About me.

My name is Tomás Quintero. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and I now live and work on Long Island, New York. I am an oil painter, and I am building a life around making art on my own terms.

I grew up in motion.

We moved every few years when I was growing up. I learned how to adjust quickly, meet new people, and begin again, but I also learned how much I value continuity, a real home, and relationships that last.

I kept coming back to art.

I worked in landscaping, restaurants, retail, interpreting, and art education. Every job taught me something, but I kept returning to drawing and painting.

The first time someone bought one of my paintings for $350, it gave me concrete proof that something I made could matter to a person I did not already know.

The turning point.

After COVID, a period of poor health forced me to pay attention to my body and inner life. Meditation, reading, Hemi-Sync, and a deeper spiritual practice changed how I understood my attention. I began to see that peace is something I have to practice, not something I can wait to feel.

Where I am now.

I am still learning how to make discipline support my creativity instead of flattening it. I paint, make music, study, and build the systems that let me keep doing the work.

The goal is simple: to live from what I create, care for the people I love, and build a life that feels calm, honest, alive, and fully mine.
